Question 1 of 7
Which room are you decorating?
Each room has different colour needs — lighting, mood, and function all matter.
Living Room
The main social space — needs to feel welcoming and work day to night.
Bedroom
Your sanctuary — should feel restful, calm, and personal.
Kitchen / Dining
A functional space that benefits from energising or warm tones.
Home Office
Needs to support focus and productivity without being sterile.
How much natural light does the room get?
Light is the most important factor in how a colour reads in a room.
Floods with light
South or west-facing, bright most of the day. Can handle deeper, cooler tones.
Good but not bright
East or west-facing. Good morning or afternoon light but not all day.
Quite dark
North-facing or interior room. Light is limited — needs warm tones to compensate.
Mostly artificial light
No or minimal windows. Warm bulbs dominate — colours will read warmer.
How would you describe the room size?
Size affects which tones will make the room feel balanced vs overwhelming.
Small or cosy
Under ~150 sq ft. Light tones open the space; deep tones create intimacy.
Medium
~150–250 sq ft. Almost any palette works — the sweet spot for colour.
Large or open-plan
Over 250 sq ft. Deeper or warmer tones prevent the room feeling cold and cavernous.
Long & narrow
A hallway or galley. Accent walls on the short ends can shorten the perceived length.
What mood do you want the room to have?
This is the most personal question — go with how you want to feel in the room.
Calm & Serene
Peaceful, quiet, restorative. A place to properly decompress.
Warm & Inviting
Cosy, enveloping, social. The kind of room people never want to leave.
Bold & Dramatic
Strong, confident, memorable. A room that makes an impression.
Fresh & Energising
Bright, uplifting, alive. A room that wakes you up and gets you going.
What are your existing floors and large furniture tones?
Your palette should complement what's already in the room — not fight it.
Warm wood tones
Honey, oak, walnut, amber. Warm palette will harmonise; cool will contrast.
Cool greys & whites
White walls, grey floors, silver fixtures. Cool palette will unify; warm will add contrast.
Dark floors or furniture
Ebony, dark walnut, charcoal. Lighter wall tones balance the heaviness beautifully.
Mostly neutral / mixed
Greige, beige, or a mix of tones. Very flexible — almost any palette will work.
How adventurous are you with colour?
Be honest — there's no wrong answer. A palette you won't actually use helps no one.
Keep it safe
Whites, off-whites, very light neutrals. I won't regret it and it always looks good.
Subtle & sophisticated
Warm taupes, soft greens, pale blues. Colour but nothing that shocks anyone.
Confident but not extreme
Proper colour on the walls — sage, slate blue, terracotta. Strong but liveable.
Go bold or go home
Deep navy, forest green, charcoal, plum. I want a room that makes people stop.
Which overall style direction feels most like you?
This helps us pick the right undertones and finish for your palette.
Natural & organic
Earthy tones, warm whites, inspired by nature. Timeless and grounding.
Clean & modern
Cool whites, stone, slate. Crisp and contemporary without being cold.
Coastal & relaxed
Ocean blues, sandy whites, soft greens. Breezy and effortlessly calm.
Rich & dramatic
Deep jewel tones, warm darks, earthy pigments. Moody and enveloping.
